Baby Hiccups

Baby hiccups are one of the most mind boggling things. I always thought hiccups came because of excess air coming in or something to do with air and the diaphragm. But there is NO air where the baby is…so how can the baby get “hiccups?” I must remember to ask my doctor tomorrow. Anyhow, I remember the first time I felt them. It felt a little, well, weird. I can’t handle it when I, myself, get the hiccups. (I usually get them when I eat carrots. Go figure!) In fact I absolutely HATE to get the hiccups.

I know that is a pretty strong word, but it is applicable. But when they are coming from the person inside of me…well that is a different story. It is just a little unnerving at first. I feel bad for the kid. I just find myself saying “please God help the hiccups go away!” because I know that is what I would be saying if the hiccups happened to me. Little mini jolts in the stomach. Like shock waves.

At this moment, the baby is moving a lot. I thought it was hiccups at first. But it’s not. Just big movements in a small space. I love that! Anyhow, I just wanted to document that my baby is moving. A lot. You know I’ve taken a couple of kicks to the ribs at random times during pregnancy. It is like “hey, what was that?” Hiccups are different. But, it’s all good!
