Hangin’ by a moment
It’s in the times of quiet reflection when I appreciate my life. When I take time to dial down and get to what is really going on within me. So much of my time is superficial…so it is therapeutic to dig deep. What was brought to the surface today was this journal entry.
“I appreciate my son– and I realize that I long to hold him–even in the times when he seems unconsolable. I nurse him and pray over him. I pray for his future. I pray for his future spouse and family. I thank God for him and I revel in the moment [of just being with him] because I realize it is just that- a moment. I don’t want to hurry up these times because I know they will be gone too quickly and will not be back. But then, there are new moments to be made.”

If I don’t start journaling now, our kid will be 20 years old and I will have forgotten his entire childhood. Well, maybe that was a bit dramatic, but in my case…my procrastinating case…I will go ahead and at least attempt to document this little one’s life as we know it. Let’s start with some numbers. 5- So far, we have put 5 calls in to the phone nurse at Scottish Rite. They are absolutely fabulous. 230 - number of diapers we have changed so far. 4 - number of times I have been out by myself to either Walmart or Target. Oh yes, and of course ladies night at the cheap theater. 1 -Number or times Conrad and I have been out by ourselves (thanks to the grandparents). 11 - number of days old Kayle was when we took his first trip to the ER. (Scottish Rite IS the best) 20 +/- visitors that have come to see Kayle. Many have come to drop off food or gifts or just hang out! Thank you! 2- number of photo shoots we’ve done (well, one was during pregnancy…but hey, that still counts). 7- number of times our son has peed on us while changing him. 3 1/2- number of times that Kayle and I have been out on a walk. The first trip was cut short due to the time of day (mosquitoes are out in the evening now!). 9 +/- number of baths Kayle has had. #? number of times I have gazed into his beautiful eyes! 23 - number of days old Kayle is today.
