What I learned from my Father…

How to hold that ladder! :-)

Actually, that is the standard introduction to the family. It is kinda a joke between me and my brothers! That we would usually be asked to hold the ladder while my dad did the work. “Watch and Learn,” right? Anyhow, Conrad, when he first came to America, even got introduced to “holding the ladder!”

But in all fairness, I do need to add a few more things that I learned from my dad.

I learned about the guitar. Not so much how to play it. Mostly I picked that up by myself (you can tell) and I have had a few lessons here and there (thanks Cathy Little!) My dad actually bought me my first guitar for Christmas one year.

I learned that putting up Christmas lights is very strategic and requires precise placement.

I learned that when you purchase and item (car, camera, etc) you should always read the manual from cover to cover before using. ;-)

I learned how to change a tire. Luckily I have never had to put that into practice myself. My husband has though!

I learned that there are 52 weeks in a year…oops. that was Erik’s lesson to learn, sorry!

I learned how to drive a stick shift.

Can one really put down everything one has learned from someone? There are just countless other lessons that I have learned from my father and I am very grateful.

Thanks Daddi-o!
