“You do not have because you do not ask God.” James 4:2b
Last week when I blogged about my struggles regarding this upcoming trip and my needs, I felt God also remind me of the verse above…
Along with Malachi 3:10 “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”
So after I blogged, I just told the Lord that I was taking the day off from thinking about India. I was just leaving him with my needs list and my worry. And I also asked him, “Lord, can you please tell someone that they should offer to watch my children on the trip and text me that today? Thanks.” I felt like I needed to expect God to do big things and to come through on His word. I needed to have faith. Bottom line.
So I went about my day. And about 1:14pm that afternoon I get a text from my BFF Ruth (who I had asked to pray for my trip and whom was on the list of people who I would want to ask to watch my kids, but since she recently lost her husband a few days before Christmas, I wasn’t even going to ask). Ruth’s text read:
“I prayed for you, too. And I felt like God said I should ask you “when is your trip?” And I should tell you that if the kids are what is holding you back, you know I am happy to keep them while you are gone if you and Conrad both go. I could probably even stay there if that helps. And when I prayed before I prayed for confidence for you.”
Jaw dropped. I immediately copy/pasted the text to Conrad. His response was the same. “wow.”
voice of God: “Because you asked.”
I was amazed. Excited. And very thankful. That is such a great testimony to God’s faithfulness. When we are faithful to follow him, He is faithful to provide the way.
Can I get a witness?!
